I.
It's time, tonight, to begin again. Long ago, though merely a year, I started out on the way to making a new nation.
Within eight months, all hopes were gone. The group died for a number of reasons, the most important being lack of communication.
Now it's time to try to do it the right way. If it fails again, then so be it.
But before going over the planned infrastructure of the group itself, I will give a short overview of what the group is--from a different perspective than before.
And one lesson I did learn from before: brevity. This intro is short and to the point. You'll learn anything else you need along the way.
II.
The world offers a great deal of pain, suffering, frustration, and hopelessness.
The group's intent is to alleiviate these problems by whatever means necessary.
The original means was by creating a new nation. But that doesn't mean it's the only way. Perhaps an organization will be created, instead of a country.
Regardless, the aim remains: to help the world and its people. Simple enough.
III.
The group will interact in the following ways:
Attendance at weekly meetings in an ICQ chat room is required. The monthly meetings are mandatory and cannot be excused, except in obviously impossible cases. Repeated absences from weekly or monthly meetings will result in disciplinary action. The meetings, which can last from an hour to several, are a good thing, not a punishment. And they are _extremely_ important to the continued functioning of the group.
There will be a mailing list. Members are required to read all messages, and participate regularly. Frequent submissions of ideas, and participation in (healthy) argument is expected. Zero tolerance of lurking.
Communication cannot occur solely through the head of the group. You'll have to talk to other people, too.
IIII.
As you can tell from above, the group does have an element of sacrifice. Which doesn't mean that it won't be fun, rewarding, or interesting.
What it means, is that you'll be expected to do a little work. You want to help the world, don't you?
If you're thinking of joining, ask yourself these questions. All of these are either important qualifications, or have been problems in the past.
Do you care about money or power?
Are you willing to give up a part of your time?
Can you interact with people?
(In other words, do you play nice with others?)
Do you admit when you're wrong?
or that you could be wrong?
Can you write with reasonable spelling and grammar?
Though high intelligence isn't a requirement, would you be able to argue on scholarly topics?
